I had a bash at pulling out the accident damage. Heated up the points of tension with an oxy-acetylene torch and reshaped it using a combination of a claw hammer, a ball peen hammer, pliers, a pry bar and some mole grips. Before above, and after below.
It's a bit tricky to tell when it's multi-coloured, but once it's had a coat of anti-rust primer you can see that it's reasonably straight now.
I only stopped at this point because it was getting dark and I leant backwards onto the mole grips just after I'd used them for pressing yellow-hot steel. Burn right on the area of skin the flexes when you move your thumb. Ouch.
Again, moron, but I'm fairly pleased with progress so far.

What's happened to the formatting on this one? I meant it to have chunks of text broken up by images.

I usually hit enter twice before and after an image. Seems to work for me.

Not a bad job at all! Been dealing with something similar on my fiancées Saturn SL2 after she was involved in a fender bender a week ago. All that's left on ours is to find a new hood and headlight assemblies, paint the new parts, and do the final tweaks to make sure it all lines up right once the hood is attached.

When the images are less than 640 px wide Kinja shrinks them to 320 px and wraps the text around them. That why I sometimes have to use periods to move text to the appropriate place around images in the best of Oppo.
